About us

Lindsay Robinson has been an avid bird hunter since a very young age.  He hunted over the family dog, a black lab named Old Dan and learned very quickly the importance of having a great hunting dog at your side.  Not only are they loving companions, but a valuable tool in the field or in the duck blind.  In 1989 he was given a chocolate lab as a gift, and set out on a journey to train his very first personal dog.  He was mentored along the way.... and long story short Dr Dan Jr became the first chocolate labrador in the state of Utah to earn his AKC Master Hunter title!  Lindsay was hooked.  Has been training ever since.

Lindsay has studied and trained with some of the best Field Trial trainers and amateur in the game.  He apprenticed for 2 years with Ribar Kennls, and has learned from many of the greats.  With an open mind and love of the dogs and the game he has incorporated many different styles into his training, and developed what we feel is the best method to bring out the best in our dogs. "Teaching dogs to make good choices" is one of his favorite teachings, because it is these choices that earn ribbons, bring back the bird, and win the day.

Jen Robinson has loved animals, dogs in particular all of her life.  She met Lindsay and began her training journey with him in October of 2009.  She has apprenticed with Lindsay for over 5 years and has worked with dogs from puppy stages through finishing levels.  She specializes in working with young dogs, and raising puppies is her passion.  We have dedicated our lives to these exceptional animals.

Summers are spent training and competing in and out of our home base near Malad Idaho.  Winter training in Southern California, and Yuma Arizona.  Find us at www.gypsyoakretrievers.com for further information about us, and our training program!

Why a Gypsy Oak Puppy?

We believe in intelligent, biddable, happy dogs who form a team with their owner/handler.  Dogs that are bred with everything it takes to be a champion.  Supperior sight, noses, athleticism, intelligence, and a team player attitude.  Having an "off swich" in the house helps too!  With years of experiance in training we have chosen the blood lines that we feel make the best competitor, hunter, and companion.  That's what a Gypsy Oak Retriever is all about!

Well adjusted puppies start with happy, healthy parents.  All of our dogs are heathy well adjusted retrievers.  Our puppies are hand raised by our family. They are handled from birth and given early nuerological stimulation, and well socialized.  See our health guarantee at  http://www.gypsyoakretrievers.com/pupguar.htm.  Call to reserve your Gypsy Oak puppy today!
